And the wine Oscar goes to…

Sterling Vineyards

So why not serve the same at your Oscar Party!

For the 6th year the Academy Awards will pour Sterling Vineyards’ specially created wines at the after gala ball with Wolfgang Puck’s menu for 1,500 guests and at the evening’s pre show reception.

VP of winemaking Mike Westrick describes the special line up, “The 2005 Red Carpet Reserve Cabernet shows notes of cassis, plum, blackberry and Asian spices. The Gold Standard Reserve Chardonnay offers aromas and flavors of toffee, vanilla, gala apples and Bosc pear. The Muscat Canelli is just luscious, with generous elements of apricot, honeysuckle, ginger and clove.” The Muscat is a new addition to the Oscar line up this year.

Only a few hundred cases of each vintage of Gold Standard Reserve Chardonnay and Red Carpet Reserve Cabernet are produced each year to celebrate the special night. Each bottle bears the winemakers’ signatures and this year is embossed with a stylized bronze cherry blossom to complement the Governors Ball’s Asian theme.sterling-vineyards-our-wines2

Founded in 1964 by Peter Newton, Sterling Vineyards sits 300 feet above Calistoga and offers sweeping views over Napa Valley. Take the aerial tram up to the winery modeled after Greek Island Mykonos, where Peter once lived, for a tour and tastings in their upscale facilities.

I love lucy

i_love_lucyOn this Valentine’s Day I thought I’d send some love out to my favorite yoga and active wear store… lucy!

You gotta have the right gear for yoga and lucy is the place to get it! I became a fan living in Seattle when I discovered them at University Village. The staff is always friendly and helpful, the clothes fashionable, colorful and so comfortable. From tees and tanks to pans and hoodies, they’ve got it all.

Check out one of their 63 retail stores and their website. They have great online offers and promotions so sign up for their newsletter… you can currently enter to win a week for two at Rancho La Puerta Resort!

They even have a LUCY PRO program… a professional discount program of 30% off for certified yoga and pilates instructors, personal and fitness trainers.

I even love their brand statement & why they picked the name…

  • lucy brand statement* – We all know that when you look good, you feel good. And when you feel good, you go the extra mile. So at lucy, our passion is to design fashion forward performance apparel that inspires athletic women like you.
  • why “lucy”?* – Our most frequently asked question is why “lucy”? We wanted a name that was fun, energetic and inspirational to represent our designs as well as our customer’s outlook on life. We thought lucy fit perfectly, and the many women we asked for an opinion heartily agreed.

What’s Your 2009 Resolution?

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

Or ‘goals’ as Oprah calls them…I like that term. Among Oprah’s… “to honor yourself, to have reverence for yourself [and] to have harmony in your life”, says Winfrey. “I dare all of us to make 2009 the year we give ourselves the love we need to be happy, to be healthy, to be well and to be loved.”* I love that!

Even though its the beginning of February its not too late to write yours. I got off to a slow start the first few weeks of the year but I’ve picked up speed.

My 2009 Goals

1. Get fit!

  • detox eating as the norm (check out Carol Vorderman’s books on Amazon)
  • workout 3-4x/week
  • and slightly cut down on the wine intake :)

2.  Take control!

  • work: organize the plan, stick to it as much as possible, deploy against it, drive for results
  • personal: min 7 hrs of sleep per night, meditate 1-2x/week, journal weekly

3. Take action… just do it!

  • work: don’t leave it for later.. file or take action
  • personal: bring Grape Occasions to life

4. Be positive.

  • there’s no need to be anything other than happy!
  • go with the flow!

Any you’d like to share?
